The burner plate is the heart of the boiler.
In the photo above, the wood pellets are fed to the burner plate, via an auger, through the large diameter pipe on the left.
Air is introduced and the pellets undergo an initial burn.
The section view (above) shows the auger located below and to the right of the burner plate.
More air is introduced higher up in the chamber and the pellet gases undergo a fierce secondary burn ensuring maximum energy release from the pellets.
The area marked in blue on the section, indicates the position of the water circulation jacket around the burner.
This cut-away photo of a boiler shows the central combustion chamber (complete) and the surrounding water jacket cut-through. The springs are located in pipes through the water jacket, through which the flu gasses pass, ensuring maximum heat-transfer to the water.
With the cover removed, this top view down the boiler again shows the pipes through the water jacket. The springs form part of an automatic flu cleaning mechanism, which is actuated by the bar visible across the top of the photo.
